Laura & Tim

September 1st, 2010

I am so honored that I got to be a part of Laura and Tim’s day.  It was a lovely wedding uniting two lovely people. They are truly a perfect pair, she is such a girly girl and he is a man’s man.  I had a lot of fun getting to know these two at their engagement session.  You know how they say that something always happens on a wedding day that you do not plan for….well on Laura and Tim’s day it was the rings.  They were accidentally left in the bride’s room and minutes before the ceremony Laura realized it and sent someone to the room…she came back with the news that the room was locked so earlier that day when I was photographing the rings I realized that Laura and I have the same ring size so I lent her my wedding band and Tim borrowed his brothers band for the ceremony!  I thought it was so awesome how it all worked out!    So I will start this post with the symbols of their marriage vows… the rings!

Laura had some cute details.  She wore two garters. . . one “something blue” and one UGA garter. I loved Laura’s bouquet by the always fabulous Allison Lucas and Carmen Johnston of Nectar and Co.blog_00062blog_00072

What a beautiful bride!blog_00082blog_00092

It was about 115 degrees outside on Laura’s day and she HATES to be hot… In fact she might hate it more than anyone I have ever met…so we found some lovely window light for most of her bridals!

Then everyone headed out on the Sweet Melissa Trolley to the Blacksmith Shop for the reception. blog_00521blog_00531

The reception was beautiful!  Allison Lucas and Carmen Johnston created some fabulous florals and even floated petals in the fountain.  Lisa Shepley of Lisa Mae Cakes made cakes that were as gorgeous as they were delicious.   Instead of wedding favors, Tim and Laura gave a donation to the humane society and encouraged their guests to give too.  If you want to donate, check out their websiteblog_00541

The groom’s cake was like a million layers of chocolate and decorated with Tim’s favorite thing - baseballs! blog_00551The bride’s cake was an elegant white cake with a surprise inside. . . red velvet!!  blog_00561

On Saturday night I went to what most people thought was Jessica and Michael’s engagement party…but surprise -  it was their wedding!  They decided to surprise their guests with an on the spot wedding. The engagement party/ wedding was at Michael’s parents’ house and they threw together a pretty awesome wedding for the couple!  Here are just a couple of photos of the celebration!

It was just after sunset on Lake Tobosofkee.

It was so much fun to photograph Sarah and Toby’s big day!  They met while attending Mercer University, so it was so perfect that they got to get married at Newton Chapel on the Mercer campus.  They had a beautiful fresh garden theme to their wedding with bright colors and personalities to match.  It was truly a blast to be a part of their day.  I also got to work with some of my fav vendors so it’s always a joy to work with talented people!  So onto the preview!

The ladies started their day with muffins and mimosas and some primping at Signature Salon with the fabulous Nichole Mitchell.

blog_0004

Sarah had some beautiful details.  She had her wedding date and her parents’ wedding date monogrammed on the inside of her dress.  The fab Michael Angela was behind the monograms.  “To my Goose”was engraved on the inside of Sarah’s ring… its the nickname Toby’s calls her.   Sarah’ s garters were also an adorable find from Esty!

I just got back from the big apple!  It was an awesome trip, but I am so glad to be home sweet home!  The wedding was awesome, it was such an amazing reflection of Preston and Ginger and what a lovely couple that they are.  I just wanted to go ahead a post a first look at the wedding for the bride and groom.  Since these two are chefs, food was a MAJOR part of their day and the center of the event was the giant pig that they roasted!  It was almost a pig roast with a wedding on the side!  The pig was present all throughout the event from their invitations to their piggy pinata!  Here is just a little taste of things to come!

Ginger was a stunning bride!

img_8973

Such a perfect couple!

img_8967

With their pinata!  I cannot wait to post the pics of them smashing it!

img_8289Thanks Preston and Ginger for having us come up and celebrate your big day today!  I cannot wait to share more with you!

Love,

Alex & John tied the knot at the lovely First Presbyterian Church in Macon, GA. It was a fun filled day of romance, commitment, and love.  I feel so blessed that I got to be a part of their day, and that I got to work with a fab team of wedding vendors.  Alex & John’s family were also  a major part of pulling all the details together to make the day sentimental and perfect. So now onto the wedding preview!

b_0001

Some details, my fav was the necklace that Alex wore… the stone was her parents engagement stone and the two others were her mom and daddy’s birth stones.

Psalm 34:3 was engraved inside of both Alex and John’s rings, and Alex’s mom actually made her veil!

details7

Alex’s brother Sean, did a fab job with Alex’s hair. I love that first shot…brother/sister love!

b_0002

Alex was a beautiful bride.  And can I just say those eyes are stellar!

b_0004

b_0005b_0006

b_0007

John got a little love note from his bride.

b_0008

He looked spiffy in his tux!

b_0009b_0010

John was a good sport and showed off his mismatched socks.  Alex got his two different pairs for him to wear since he is known for mismatching his socks.

b_0011b_0012

They decided to see each other before the wedding in a private first look.

b_0013

I love that Alex wore her blusher down to see her groom for the first time.

b_0014b_0015b_0016

Sweet embrace.

b_0017

They had a sweet time of prayer together.

b_0018b_0019

b_0043b_0044b_0045

Alex’s sweet daddy got a little emotional when giving away his baby girl.

b_0046b_0047

Tears run in the family, I guess….but again Alex gets a laugh too.  I just love her spirit!

b_0048b_0049

John’s family is super talented too.  His mom played the organ for the service and his brother played the piano.

Party time!

b_0068b_0069b_0070

The cake and all the tasty food was by Bobby Jo Carver and company.

b_0066

Alex made John’s groom’s cake herself.  So cute!!  John plays the guitar . . . remember his sweet serenade from the engagement session?  And of course,  two more of Alex giggling throughout the reception.

b_0067

Air guitar.

b_0071

Father/Daughter dance.

b_0072b_0073

Now these guest knew how to cut a rug and they danced the night away to LOKD Entertainment’s rockin’ band.  Alex even did the worm in her wedding dress!

It was such an honor to be a part of Ivy and Will’s wedding day!  This couple is so special and they actually got to have two weddings.  Will’s mother was battling cancer this spring and when things took a turn for the worse Ivy and Will decided to tie the knot in a small, private family ceremony in Will’s parents living room.  Even though she passed away shortly after, I know it was such a special gift to Will’s mom to get to see her son get married.  Will and Ivy still continued with their original wedding day plans as well.  I had such a blast getting to be a part of their wedding day celebration and photographing all of Ivy’s adorable details.    Have fun with this preview!

Ivy was beautiful on her wedding day!  Jill Gordon did an awesome job with her hair.

I have been dying to post Gemma and Matt’s wedding here on the blog.  It was just so hard for me to cull it down. In fact I think it has taken me longer to cull this wedding than any other wedding I have ever shot.  It is just so interesting  and beautiful, it’s not many Saturdays that I get to shoot two ceremonies with the same couple.  That is right, they had an Indian ceremony first and then a Catholic ceremony. Big huge thanks to Claudia Sasser Events for keeping things running smoothly!!!!  Matt English met Gemma Patel when they were in high school and soon there after fell in love, and have been together since.  Gemma grew up in Athens, GA with a great legacy of culture with her Indian daddy and her mum who is from across the pond, yep she is English.  What are the chances she would fall in love with a guy with the last name English?  It is all so inter-connected, and they are definitely the perfect match. Ok, so let’s get started…..

The wedding celebrations commenced at the beautiful Tucker Plantation in Colbert, GA.  Here are a few details from the day.  The elephant is one of the Indian Gods of good luck.

blog_00014

Two gorgeous dresses. . . the saris were imported from India and Gemma’s traditional white gown was so unique!  blog_00024blog_00034

So beautiful! blog_00044

Gemma’s hair was done is two diffent dos by Jennifer Haddon of Mint Hair Boutique.  Gemma’s aunt helped her into her sari.

Not every gal gets to have twice the bling.  Since she had two different outfits she got to have twice the jewlery.  The necklace on the left of the Indian Jewelry is the mangal sutra (sacred necklace).  It is a symbol of his commitment to her. Traditionally, the black beads are believed to shield the bride from evil spirits, envy and sadness.  Gemma and Matt also have an adorable dog.  Of course she had to have some wedding jewelry too and this collar seemed appropriate for a dog named Coach! blog_00084

A sweet moment before the ceremonyblog_00233blog_00242

The Indian ceremony is symbolic and full of tradition.  The bride and groom carry coconuts down the aisle instead of flowers to symbolize fertility. The bride is escorted down the aisle to the mandap by her father and uncle.

The couple exchanged flower garlands to represent the beauty and love they will bring each other.  Then a Varmala (auspicious cord) is placed around their necks to protect them. The priest then ties the ends of their scarves together, which symbolizes the bond of marriage and the couple’s everlasting and flourishing love and friendship.
