This past weekend I got to photograph Beau and Ashley’s wedding in Colbert, GA.  Right after the ceremony I got a chance to get a couple of romantic shots of the newlyweds.  Beau is known for his high kick and I couldn’t help but post this victory kick photo as their first look.  Check back soon for more of a preview from their day!first-look-1-of-11

Meet Becca & Andrew!  This sweet couple  met and fell in love in college at Mercer University and have been together for 7 years!  They are still so in love and since Mercer was where it all started it was the perfect place to start their engagement session.  They have the sweetest dog, Roscoe and he was part of their engagement story so they brought him along for part of the shoot too.  You can read the story here.  I love the way the painting turned out and I am totally going to have to commission one of Kensie!  This is the painting … I asked Becca for a pic of it to share with you.

Micha and Ryan’s wedding was held at the gorgeous Terra Chula Plantation in Quitman, GA.   It was a beautiful location for the couple’s outdoor ceremony.  The wedding party got to spend the whole weekend out at the plantation relaxing and prepping for the festivities. Micha is originally from Ohio and she had lots of family come from afar to experience some GA southern charm.  Their day was filled with so much emotion…lots of tears of joy and so much love and happiness!  It was really a joy to spend such a happy day with the lovely couple and their friends and family.  Micha and Ryan were also my “big dippers”!  Every chance Ryan got he would gracefully dip and kiss Micha!  You will see….but now on to the preview.

They got ready at the hunting lodge where I got to take advantage of the unusual wildlife!1896-050909-micha-ryan-wedding

By far my wildest ring shot yet!

Micha made Ryan a scrapbook of their whole life together thus far and had a bridesmaid deliver it to Ryan as a wedding gift.  I love the personal touches as well as all the history that Micha put together from their first date to their engagement to their new house!ryan-book-1

Micha had some help from her mom and the other ladies while getting ready.

When I asked Micha what her colors were I loved that she didn’t really have just one!  Her flowers were all colors of roses!  Ginger Shivers, her florist, did an incredible job! 2053-050909-micha-ryan-wedding1083-050909-micha-ryan-weddinglove this one!

Some reception details.   I especially thought that the VSU (Valdosta State University) groom’s cake was super cool.  A friend of the bride and groom, Daniel, did a fantastic  job with it.   VSU a big part of their past and present, it’s where Micha and Ryan met and where we shot their engagement session that you can see here.

This past Saturday was Angel and Andy’s day!  I have so been looking forward to their wedding, and they did not disappoint.  Angel’s dream was to have an outdoor ceremony, but God had other plans.  He sent the rain. I could not help but think of Angel yesterday at church we sang the hymn God Moves in Mysterious Ways by William Cowper.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Your marriage will be full of blessings that is for sure! The wedding was beautiful!!!  The full blog preview will be posted in about a week with all the fun details and such, but for now here is the first look.  I decided to post a photo for the bride and a photo for the groom.

The first time I met Angel she told me that she wanted her wedding to be a happy, sunshiny affair  This one is for you Angel!

I just got back to Macon last night and crashed!  I had so much fun this past weekend at Micha and Ryan’s wedding in Valdosta, GA!  I will have a full blog post up by the end of the week so check back.  For now here is a first look. It’s always awesome when the bride and groom can sneak away during the reception for some romantic shots…this is one of my favs from their day!  firstlook-0001

I hope you two are having a fabulous honeymoon!

Barnes Family

May 6th, 2009

Recently I got to do a family session with the Barnes.  It feels really odd saying that and not referring to my parents because my maiden name is Barnes.   Stephen Barnes is my first cousin and if you have not noticed I have a really LARGE family.  It was a really fun time and I am so glad that got to spend some time with Stephen and Christian and their sweet kiddos!    It was a special shoot for me.  Stephen was one of the first of my cousin’s to get married and I remember attending his wedding. I was in high school  and was so impacted by their ceremony that when I got married I had Christian’s aunt, Becky Morecraft, sing The Lord’s Prayer at my wedding too.  The thought never crossed my mind then that I would be a wedding photographer and be photographing their family one day.  God works all things in mysterious ways!

This is the first shot that we did.  It’s my favorite and I stole the idea from another photographer, John Michael Cooper.  It was just genius and I think I am going to try to do it every time I photograph a family.  The concept is that everyone (even the baby) has a personal item that is important to them right at this point in their life. What awesomeness!

Personal items from L to R.  dolly, childhood copy of  The Hobbit,  wooden ax made by daddy, mama’s iphone, giraffe chew toy.

snbarnes-0001

And of course we did some family photos without the personal items.

On Saturday April 25th I had the honor of photographing Abby & Brandon’s Wedding…and it was a pink affair! I had so many favorites from their day that is was so hard for me to pick just a few for the blog preview.  So I kinda went a little crazy.  I hope it holds you over until I am finished editing! I am going to start off with my new favorite ring shot!

abby-0001-2

We started the day at  Signature Salon.  Nicole did a fab job on Abby’s do.  It kept its hold all day long! abby0001

The wedding took place at First Presbyterian Church, Macon GA.  It just so happens to be my church so I had the advantage of familiarly. We had a lot of fun with Abby’s Dress out in the courtyard!

abby0003

I loved capturing all the bridal details!  I snagged this shot of Koutsunis doing his part and making sure the dress was safe! While she was getting ready Abby wore a sexy little bridal hoodie that has been passed down to her from two other girlfriends.  Each bride that wears it has their initials monogrammed in their wedding color on the back.  I thought it was such a sweet detail and story.

abby-0001-4Abby’s make up team was AMAZING!  Ashley & Melanie of Renaissance Plastic Surgery (where Abby works) are incredible… I wish they would follow me to all my weddings.  They even gave me a touch up before the ceremony because I was looking a little ragged.  Abby could totally be a cover girl!

abby0007Favorite earring shot ever! I  call these next two images Cream and Bling! Like it’s a flavor of ice cream or something..hehehe delish!!!

abby0005

abby0006Getting into the dress….

abby0008…with a little help from her friends!

abby-collage-0001-6

Abby’s fresh and beautiful  flowers were by the talented Alison Lucas!  She is such an artist and always captures the vision of her brides!

abby-collage-0002-2

Picture Perfect with her Pink Peonies!  (what can I say…I am good at alliteration!)

abby0011abby0012

This is totally the Bridal window.

abby0014

Love this one.abby0015Meanwhile… back in the boys lair.  Koutsunis was getting some really fun shots of the guys getting ready. Brandon was being a goof!

abby0017

Some of the groom’s manry (that is man-jewelry for those of you who don’t know) abby0019Love these peaking through the window slots….great composition babe!

abby0018What a dashing groom… and I love his hair!  I am such a sucker for curls!

abby0020Abby & Brandon saw each other before the ceremony.  We captured their “first look” in the side courtyard.

abby-collage-0001-3

Then we headed out front to get some romantic shots!abby0023

They are such a cute couple!

abby0024

abby0026abby0027abby0028those are some sparkly eyes!

abby0029abby0030

It was time to get ready to head down the aisle! Abby’s parents and bridesmaids had a sweet time of prayer.  My favorite time of the pre-wedding festivities.

abby-0001

The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Eric Ashley (my pastor!) A little shout out to Eric for his first wedding he has ever officiated! I hope we have many more together in the future!

abby0037A special thanks to the whole wedding party!  Y’all really rocked it!

abby0039abby0040abby0041abby0042The reception was held at the beautiful Idle Hour Country Club.  The ballroom is so beautiful and was perfect for the First Dance!

abby0045martin-collage-0068

Pink candy, pink bows, pink cozies, pink cake…pink wedding!

abby-collage-0004

Brandon held his own with all the pink!  He had his very own Nascar cake!

martin-collage-0066We went out to the greens to take a couple of photos! I love this photo of Abby.  She has such a sweet spirit and  soaked up as much joy out of her wedding day as she possibly could!  Now that is the way to spend your wedding day!abby0051

Through the petals!

abby0053Koutsunis got a cool angle!abby0054

abby0055Thank you so much Abby and Brandon for sharing your lives and love so openly with me!  It was an honor to document your day!  I cannot wait to show your all the photos from you day!
