There is nothing better on a HOT July day than the sound of an ice cream truck!  I was out at Pineola Farms with Lauren and Michael photographing their wedding day and in the middle of shooting their romantics we heard the sweet chime of the ice cream man. Paul Knight (the owner of Pineola) flagged down the ice cream truck for the bride and groom (there is really nothing these people won’t do for their brides and grooms)  It made for a fun photo opt and chance to cool off in the Georgia July weather.  How cute are Michel and Lauren?

Boston Baby: Day 1

July 17th, 2009

Koutsunis and I are on a mini- vaca in Boston!  Neither one of us have ever been and my friend Lizzy invited us up so here we are.  Yesterday morning was our first day and we had a BLAST!  I am going to try to post a couple of photos every day or they will never be posted ……and lost in the personal file on my computer forever!!!!! hahaha Sooooo we went on an exploration of the city.  It was filled with a lot of history, a duck tour, some amazing Greek food for lunch, the afternoon spent on Newbury street and the Boston Public Gardens.  Oh and can I just tell you that coming from Macon, GA’s 105 degree weather to this fabulous 75 degrees with a cool breeze that I am in heaven.  Ok, so here are some of the pics.

When we first got into the city Lizzy have us a quick walking tour so we could get our bearings…

Then Koutsunis got an idea… I have no clue what is was… but it was a big one!

collage-32

Possibly the idea was a duck tour….its kinda cheesy but really fun… we even had to quack at people!  The Charles river was beautiful!

She did NOT see it coming at all!  Nathan & Molly have known they were going to get married, but the subject of the ring was a silent one.  Nathan had alluded to not being able to afford to get one right at the moment so Molly was just continuing with planning without the ring (and without being “official”).  Molly has been a long time stalker of my blog and I knew I would be photographing her wedding long before Nathan was in the picture.  They are long distance so the only time they were going to be anywhere near me was going to be the 4th of July weekend and they really wanted to make sure that they got their engagement photos done even if it was without the ring.

So we borrowed Molly’s brother, Timothy’s, old Ford truck to set the scene.  Molly and Nathan both have a love for old cars and Nathan actually builds them.  Thanks Timothy!

mollynathan-1

Secretly, Nathan had custom designed her a ring (with the help of Molly’s bf and my sister Charlotte…shout out to Charlotte!) and set up with me to photograph the actual popping of the ring and the question!   The session took place at Molly’s family’s farm in Smarr, GA.  There is a beautiful open field with an old tree in it so that is where we wanted to start the shoot.  I have to admit I don’t think I have ever been so nervous at an engagement shoot.  We started out the session like I normally would posing the couple.  As I was posing them I told Nathan to take one of Molly’s hands and to look at her and then he dropped to one knee! Then he said to her “I didn’t  want you to have all your engagement pictures without your ring…so will you marry me?”  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!  It was all I could do to not shriek for joy!  It was so amazing! We all had to take a 15 minute break to get our nerves back under control.

mollynathan-5

Ahhhhhhhh!

collage-3

In the bottom left photo Nathan is telling Molly about the ring.  The middle  stones were handed down from his grandmother,  and the smaller rows on each side are from her grandmother. Her mother had given him the stones two weeks before . So, all that family history in one ring.  Molly’s ring!

After shaking the nerves off we took some romantics at the proposal site.

How adorable are they?

Then some in the field in all that golden grass!

mollynathan-24

mollynathan-31

Had to show you how tiny Molly is.  We like to call her Molly-Pocket.  She is a chef and actually has a blog called the Pocket Sized Chef. She posts all kinds of wonderful recipes on there so check it out!  During the whole engagement, I found myself telling Molly to stand on different things…to balance out their heights

Ok, so…Molly’s dad has some goats so we had to take a couple of photos with them.  One of them would not stop licking my leg and another one gave Nathan a little nip!

After a little wardrobe change we went into the little downtown area to take some more romantic pics.  Molly was rockin’ some red heals.

mollynathan-174

mollynathan-172

After their session the couple whipped up some chocolate chip cookies.  Molly suggests that the recipe on the bag of Nestle’s Chocolate Chips is the best! Nathan had to kiss the cook!

mollynathan-182

Thank you so much Nathan for letting me in on the secret and having me be part of your proposal.  I cannot wait for you wedding in November.

That’s right!!!  The WESTS!  What are the chances?  Maybe they are distant cousins to Amy & Jonathan West!  Lindsay and Mikell had such a fun day!  Their friends and family were there to celebrate this couple and their future and that is exactly what we did.  There were lots of person details that I cannot wait to share with you so lets get to the preview!

Lindsay started her wedding day at Signature Salon where the fabulous  Nicole did an incredible job with her tresses. This was my second time working with Nicole and she knows how to rock a bride’s do!

The ceremony took place at the historic Martha Bowman Church in Macon, GA .  It has a quaint little courtyard where Koutsunis helped me with the dress shot. Lindsay found her dress locally at Ingelside Bridal.

The shoes were Nina’s!  Love them….the same brand that my bridal shoes were! The navy was the perfect “something blue.”

Lindsay had her sister deliver Mikell’s trouseau.  LOL!  He put them on right over his tux…sexy!  I was channeling some posing tips that I picked up from Napoleon Dianomite….”take your hand and make a fist and put it under your chin like this….”

That’s right, this is the 3rd Lauren I have done an engagement session with in a row!  This Lauren was especially close to me because she is my cousin!  Only a few years ago Lauren was a bridesmaid at my own wedding and now its her turn to walk the aisle.  I had a blast getting to hang out with Lauren and her man Cliff.  We got a little bit of a late start because of a summer thunderstorm, but I am so glad because we had some amazing skies!  Cliff proposed to Lauren in her Easter basket… he hid the ring in an egg!  So cute!  So now for some photos!  The first part of their session we shot at a local park that I love.

Then we headed over to Fort Valley, GA and did the second part of their engagement session at Pineola Farms & the Cotton Barn. It is a gorgeous outdoor venue.  You can see a wedding that I shot recently here.

Delise and Paul Knight are the owner of Pineola and they do all of the gardening.  They have quite the green thumb and I thought Lauren and Cliff would look lovely in their sunflower patch!

Some more of my favs.

Cliff and Lauren both are crazy cat people…. or so I call them.  They will have four cats together when they get hitched! So when they saw the farm cats naturally they had to get in on some of the photos.

After meeting on a short term missions trip to Mexico Steven and Lauren just had to keep in touch…who knew the love and relationship that would build from their crazy start. They currently both live in Louisville, Ky but made a quick trip down to Macon for a wedding shower, so we were able to do their engagement session.  Lauren and Steven both are lovers of “all things nature” so I found the perfect spot for their engagement shoot.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

Did I mention that I looooove Lauren’s hair!  Its sooo curly.
