Ashley & Patrick’s Engagement

September 30th, 2009

Ashley and Patrick met in college though a family friend and didn’t date right away, but soon after it was meant to be.  They are getting married this fall so we met up for their engagement session at the river walk right here in Macon, GA for the first part of their engagement session.  Patrick was a little shy in front of the camera at first…but it was not long before he let loose and we had a blast at their shoot.  Here are a couple of my favorites from their session. I love that they were workin’ the fall colors and they were troopers and managed to still look hot despite fighting off the gnats.

They both are so smiley!

Caroline’s Senior Portrait

September 30th, 2009

A couple of weeks ago I got to spend the afternoon with Caroline.  Last year I got to photograph her sister Grace’s senior portrait and now its Caroline’s turn.  She has such a funky, artsy style, and I had a blast working with her.  She really know how to rock a pose…and you all know how I love a gal in a tree!  Here are a couple of my favs from her session!

After a quick wardrobe change, we headed downtown for a more urban loon.  Love those skinny jeans!  Caroline has excelent taste in fashion and really knows the importance of rockin some cool acessories.  She also works at Ginger Michelle’s so that does help!

This past weekend I had the honor of photographing Kari and Brian’s wedding.  I got to work with their incredible families and some awesome vendors! Shout out to Kevin with DKH Entertainment!  Kevin even posted a video from the wedding where you can see me in action at the reception you can see HERE. Kari’s and Brian’s wedding was beautiful and the weather held off for their outdoor ceremony at Houston Lake Country Club.  Here are a couple of my fav shots of the lovely couple for their first look.  I hope you are soaking up the sun on your honeymoon!

Lauren Williams is the 3rd Lauren I have photographed in a row this summer. She is extra special to me because she is my cousin and only 4 years ago she was a bridesmaid in my own wedding.  She was single at the time and God had plans to bring Cliff into her life only a year later.  If there is one thing that I heard over and over again during their wedding weekend it was that Cliff and Lauren are the “Perfect Couple!”   They are so well matched and it was my honor to get to photograph their day.  Their wedding was held at the beautiful Montaluce in Dahlonega, GA.  I like to call it a little slice of Italy hidden away in the GA mountains.  It really feels like you have entered into a European Vineyard as you drive in and around the place.  It was the perfect setting for this “perfect” couple’s wedding.  Lauren and Cliff’s day was a major team effort. Their friends and family really pulled together to make this day extra special.  It was so full of sentimental details; it will be a great feat for me to try to fit them all into her preview, but here I go… Montaluce

Some bridal details at the cottage where Lauren and the gals got ready.

blog-111

Lauren’s Shoes were by Martinez Valero….they were the perfect bridal shoe.

blog-41

Here is a little tip ladies.  When I went looking for Lauren’s shoes to photograph I found them in the freezer!  If your shoes are a little small then keep them in the freezer and then when you put them on your feet will stretch them out as they warm up.  Crazy.

blog-35

Lauren’s earrings were her something borrowed from Giradin Jewlers in Valdosta, GA

blog-21blog-9

Along with some more of Lauren’s bridal details, my mom (Peaches Barnes) who is known for her beautiful children’s couture clothing also makes custom garters and Lauren’s garter.

Laurel also carried an heirloom Baker family handkerchief.  It was Cliff’s grandmother’s and his mother as well as his siter-in-law all carried it in their weddings.

blog-2-2My fabulous sister Charlotte did Lauren ’s makeup.   She also did the makeup of almost all the ladies that were part of the wedding!  Great job Char!

How do I even start telling you about the flowers?  Jamie (gaallstars@aol.com) Tater (raydmills@yahoo.com) and  Sam did an incredible job.   I could post an entire blog post just on all the different creative florals that they made.  Here is just the first taste of their awesomeness!

Time for the ceremony.  It was on the 3rd story patio that overlooked the vineyard.  It was just breath taking.

Now to the reception and more details… Shout out to Tater who was personally responsible for gluing hundreds of green orchids to the curly willow center pieces.

blog-410 Lauren and Cliff’s first dance was to the song …. “That’s what love will make you do” by the Gerry Garcia Band.  The DJ Andrew with Espeute Entertainment kept things rockin’ smoothly all night long.

blog-64

Finally it was time to let loose and put on their blue suede shoes.

blog-65

She’s got him down on his knees!

blog-66

Cakes, cakes and more cakes.  Lauren had all different kinds and flavors all topped with her Aunt Peaches’ collection of antique cake toppers.  One of them, the kissy one, was actually my cake topper. Love how they all turned out.  I also think its safe to say that we all ate our weight in baklava and kourabiedes (that is the Greek wedding sugar cookie…Amazing).  A special  thanks to our Greek cousins Athena & Vicky for making them.

blog-110

Lauren had some many different cakes I don’t even know if I can list all of them.  But, the big one was made by Donna Wells. (donna_d_wells@hotmail.com)

blog-67Baklava!

blog-68

This is the Greek side of my family.  Lauren and I both 1/4 Greek and everyone that is Greek knows you have to have 3 things at a wedding. 1. Baklava 2. Kourabiedes 3. Greek dancing.  Oooopa!

blog-71

And between our Greek dancing and Cliff’s dad singing “Under the Boardwalk”…There was a lot of dancing I think we kept the dance floor full all night!

Lauren, you know I love you very dearly and Cliff welcome to our crazy family!  I feel so honored that I got to have such a special part in your wedding day!  It was such a blast and I hope it was all and more than you always dreamed your wedding would be.  I really appreciate all the friends and family that made this “perfect couple’s” day so picture perfect!  Love you and cannot wait to show you all the wedding photos soon! Opa!  Koutsunis and I cannot wait to have you come up for a visit…just let me make it through the wedding season first!

Ryan & Avery’s Engagment.

September 18th, 2009

Avery and Ryan live out in Oregon and so the first time I got to meet them in person before their wedding was at their engagement session the week of the wedding.  It is super important for a bride and groom to meet me and for us all to get to know each other before the big day.  It really allows the couple to be comfortable and be themselves on the wedding day.  Its also one of my secret weapons and how I am able to get such great images of my brides and grooms.  So even though they just got into town the week of their wedding we found the time to meet up for their engagement session at the River walk and in downtown Milledgeville, GA.   So onto their engagement.

Avery and Ryan have two dogs and they also made the trip from Oregon so we had to add them to the photo opt. Meet Ryan & Avery and Rufas (the little guy) and Haley (the bigger gal).blog-3

Avery & Ryan’s First Look.

September 14th, 2009

Avery is a true southern belle and Ryan is a California boy!  I only photographed their engagement session earlier this week because they live out West in Oregon.  I will be posting some of their engagement photos later on this week along with their full wedding preview within the next couple of weeks…but for now here is their first look.

Lauren and Steven’s wedding was such an honor to be a part of.  It was also a fun challenge for me to shoot two weddings in a row at the same venue, First Presbyterian Church in Macon, GA.  This couple was so sweet and really let their sweet spirits shine though.  After meeting on a mission trip in Acapulco, Mexico, these two were definitely meant to be.  God has brought them together, and their wedding day was a true celebration of God’s goodness to them.  So onto their wedding preview that I know they are dying to see since I have been under the weather. I am a little late posting it… So Sorry guys!  I know you will agree with me that it was worth the wait!

The Church where it all goes down! hehehe. It was a beautiful sunny day and not too hot!

blog_0001I love the architecture. Shows off the dress.

blog_0049

So the wedding favor was a cd that the bride and groom recorded themselves.  The first song on the cd was the song that Steven wrote for Lauren.  It is so sweet.  I will have to post it on here! But for how here are some of lyrics “What do you say about me and you riding along on a bicycle built for two?  I don’t want to ride with no one new.”

Oh and …They even had an acoustic cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin” Track 7 for those of you who picked up the cd!

blog_0050

The couple ran though sparklers.

blog_0051

And sped off on their two-seater!  It was perfect!  I love the bike horn and ring ring! Wooo hooooo!

blog_0052

Thank you so much Lauren and Steven for letting me share in your day.  It was a joy to witness such a sweet celebration of God’s goodness to you.  I totally agree with what you wrote in your wedding program “that God is giving us to each other as a testament to His grace and mercy in our lives.” Cling to this truth throughout your whole marriage and love and serve each other.  Thank you to your friends and family for being so fun and creative to photograph and I look forward to sharing your entire wedding with you soon!
