A little overdue, but I am finally posting Ashley and Patrick’s wedding preview.  The holidays have been crazy and I have been all over the place… all the way from KY to TX and then back to GA and trying to get caught up before the new year.  It was an incredible wedding and I am so proud to be sharing it with you….from the chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses to the Hershey’s bars and cake ….it is chocolaty delicious wedding!  Ashley’s day started at Signature Salon where her friend Alisha Denney (478-737-5660) dolled up her makeup and then Christen Thompson completed her look with a fab updo.

details1-2

Ashley the now Mrs. Hoye wore a cute bridal hoodie that was passed down to her from her MOH, Mrs. Andrea Gable!  I esp loved the Kate Spade shoes along with her other personal items (grandparent’s hankies as well as her mother’s pearl bracelet).

How cute are these shoes…. they are so Ashley.

Ashley’s dress was breathtaking.  It was a custom design by Christopher Davidson at Christopher’s in Gainesville,  GA. (770) 534-1904‎0

From what I hear he is the man to see if you cannot find what you are looking for….he will just make it!!!

Ashley’s sweet Mama, Tammy, helped her into the gown.

The Flowers!  Once again the fabulous Allison Lucas (478-471-9590) out did herself.  Beautiful flowers!  I think my fav was the artichoke flower mixed into the bridesmaid bouquets.

During some down time I took Ashley and a couple of her bridesmaids into this hidden away ladies room for some incredible bridals.  Thanks to the lovely bridesmaids that were my video light holders!  I love how these images came out….so vintage and stunning.

Right at sunset it was time to head down the aisle for a romantic candle light ceremony.

I think Patrick was happy… I am not sure if that smile could get any wider.

Next we arrived at beautiful Idle Hour Country Club for the reception.

The club catered all the amazing food…. deeelish.  Ashley and Patrick snuck away into a downstairs room to have a little dinner before meeting their guests….A GREAT plan for all brides and grooms.

First dance.

During the father/daughter dance Ashley’s daddy serenaded her to “Be young, be foolish, but be Happy!”

blog_0053

During the reception the couple took a few minutes to sneak out a take a photo opt with Ashley’s dad’s Cutlass Supreme! Both Patrick and Ashley’s daddy (Charlie) work for Five Star Automotive Group, they are hardcore car people!  The Cutlass is smokin hot and was also the get away car!

details1-6

Now let me just tell you how awesome this band was.  The Atlanta Rhythm & Groove kept the dance floor fun the entire night.  They channeled the Supremes, James Brown, and even Prince. They were just incredible! Not only were they awesome to dance to, but they were a blast to watch and photograph.

blog_0055

details2

I am not kidding this guy actually turned into the Godfather of Soul!

blog_0057

The Hoyes, Cantrells and company can dance!  They did the spotlight dance, the train, they went down low, and they came up loud and they danced all night long!  It was a wonderful celebration of the joining of two very sweet people and their awesome friends and families.

details1-8

When the band finally stopped and it was time to go, the couple ran though petals to their honeymoon.  The guests were escorted home by the awesome people at Zingo.  They ride over on a folding motorbike and drive guests home who had a little too much fun at the party.  Seriously!  Isn’t that an awesome idea?!?

blog_0058

Thanks so much Ashley and Patrick for having me as part of your wedding day it was truly a joy to celebrate alongside of you and your friends and family. I cannot wait to share your entire wedding with you and may God bless you into the new year!

So this is gonna be a BIG post.  I spent some time in the big ol’ beautiful state of Texas last week for Brian and Simpson’s wedding weekend!  Koutsunis and I flew out on Thursday for their destination wedding in the beautiful city of Fredricksburg, TX.    When we got there we got right to an engagement session and and also a quick bridal shoot.  It was an awesome kick off to the weekend…..However, Brian had to take care of that ’stache!  So Simpson gave him a little help before we started the engagement session.  shave

After cleaning up, Brian surprised his bride-to-be with a bouquet of sunflowers… How romantic.

img_4014

We took the engagement and bridals at the Kairo Celebration Barn….where their reception was held.  The landscape and amazing trees were so beautiful!

img_4019img_4025

They just light up around each other… It was great capturing all the inloveness!!

img_4030

We were in a cow pasture and very narrowly missed sitting in a cow pie!  hahah!  But, check out all the amazing sunshineyness!

Get Real Workshop!

December 9th, 2009

Hey, Hey!  I was over in Columbus, GA for the Get Real Work shop!  Its was lots of fun, but also great to be tested and stretched as a photographer.  Thanks to Joe Dallas and Bambi Cantrell for all the lighting and posing tips! Ohhh and a special shout out to Zack Arias for his talk last night…. I am working on my vision for 2010.   Here are a couple of images that I took Monday.  It was so stressful to shoot in front of other photographers, but I really appreciate the feedback and the tips on posing.

Here is the lovely Lauren (our model bride for the day).jenny-evelyn-prater-0001

On the critique I got a gold star for being the only one to make the bride laugh!  Hahah!  That is so me.

jenny-evelyn-prater-0004

For any of you photographers out there that are either starting out or seasoned that follow my blog you should really look into the next Get Real Workshop.  It was really a great challenge to get out of my comfort zone and learn about new techniques and skills that will better me as a photographer.

Again, Thanks Joe and thanks to my friend Heather for telling me about it!

God created many things in nature in different sizes, but they still go together perfectly.  Molly and Nathan are a perfect example of this.  They had the most amazingly, sweet, autumn wedding at the beautiful Leatherwood Mountains of North Carolina!  I did a little scavenger hunt the morning of the wedding….and this is what I found.

house_00011

collage-source-7

How fabulous is that? And, no I won’t tell you how we got the dress up there!

house_0003

Doesn’t her dress look like a flower?

house_0004

Molly is a chef and went for a non-traditional bouquet….hers was made of wheat!  She also skipped the veil and made an incredible feather head piece! Oh, and how cool are her vintage shoes?

collage-source-3The rings!

house_0006

My AMAZING sister, Charlotte was her makeup artist for the day! Her mother and sweet friend Brandy helped her into the dress!

house_0007

She certainly was a stunning bride!

house_0011

Most fab sunflair ever!!!

house_0012

I have no words.

This one is for John Michael Cooper.  My Bride of Frank! Shout out!

house_0017

Nathan had some help from the style Guru Houston with tying the tie.  On a side note Houston tied all the guys ties at my wedding too!  The dude abides.

Nathan was looking very dapper.

Check out that view.

house_0025

On Molly’s sweet sixteen her daddy gave her a beetle bug and started restoring it.  He has been working on it for years. Well he finished it as a surprise for Molly on her wedding day.  He hauled it in a trailer all the way from GA to NC and hid it until right before it was time to walk down the aisle…..well actually drove to the aisle and then walked to the altar.  Needless, Molly was super surprised with her wedding gift!

house_0029

Nathan was overcome.

house_0030

I love all the colorful leaves they put down the aisle.

house_0031

Molly is the only girl of six children…that means she has FIVE brothers…so when her daddy gave her away he stated that “her mother and I and all her bothers give her away.”

house_0033

Vows.

house_0035house_0037

The kiss!

house_0038

Since they had a small destination wedding, we were able to take a photo of the couple and all of their guests.

The guests mingled on the deck and inside a cabin up on the hill.

house_0066

Molly set up a backdrop for a photobooth.  It was just perfect.

house_0062

There is nothing sexier than men who are in love with their wives.  Poor Jono, he doesn’t have a ring yet…but, I know he is next.

house_0063

We had lots and lots of fun with the photo booth.  I even got in a few.

house_0064

Sunset on top of the mountain was just breathtaking.

Ashley & Kevin’s EN

December 1st, 2009

Meet Ashley & Kevin another sweet couple headed down the aisle this coming spring.  We were really blessed with a beautiful sunshiny afternoon for their session…my favorite kind of afternoon!  I thought it fitting since Kevin actually proposed to Ashley on a beach in sunny California!  So romantic.  Here are a few of my favs from their shoot.

ak-0008

We did almost all of their session at the Ocmulgee River front park in downtown Macon, GA.  It is has all kinds of beautiful old trees along the pathways.

Kevin and Ashley are both all about some Apple.  They brought their Macbooks so that I could capture what their true essence as a couple.   When Kevin proposed he gave Ashley an ipod as a gift.  When she turned the screen on it said “Will you marry me?” and Kevin was down on one knee with the ring.  Needless to say Ashley was pretty shocked.

proofsI am in love with Ashley’s adorable dress.
